Prime Minister lays foundation stone for IndianOil’s projects in North Eastern states

In a significant development aimed at bolstering the northeast’s energy infrastructure, Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for various projects in the North Eastern States of India, during the functions held at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh and Jorhat in Assam on March 9, 2024. Amongst these projects were IndianOil’s four key projects encompassing expansions and modernisation of refineries, as well as the establishment of a new POL facility. The events were graced by the presence of distinguished figures including Mr Kiren Rijiju, Union Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Earth Sciences; Mr Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & Ministry of Ayush; Mr Rameswar Teli, MoS, MoP&NG, Labour & Employment; Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam and Mr Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. Mr Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman, IndianOil was present at the function in Jorhat. Along with the Chairman, Ms Sukla Mistry, Director (Refineries), and other senior officials of IndianOil were present. At Itanagar, the Prime Minister virtually laid the foundation stone of POL Depot at Sekerkote, Tripura. This state-of-the-art depot will serve as a vital hub for storing and dispatching petroleum products, catering to the burgeoning energy needs of Tripura. Being constructed at an investment of Rs 656 Crores with a projected throughput of 323 TKLPA (~ 1077 KL per day), the depot aims to meet future energy demands of Tripura & also generate livelihoods during the construction and operation phase.
