MoS, P&NG hands over sewing machines to underprivileged women under CSR initiatives of Digboi Refinery

Under its CSR initiatives, IndianOil’s Digboi Refinery (DR) has been working consistently to serve the underprivileged section of society living in and around its installation. Accordingly, a CSR project was taken up to empower widows and unmarried women of Digboi by providing them with necessary sewing training and a sewing machine. The formal handing over of the sewing machines to the beneficiaries was done in a ceremony held at Golden Jubilee Complex on March 26, 2023. The handing over of the machines was done by Mr Rameswar Teli, Minister of State (MoS), Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment, in the presence of Mr Suren Phukan, MLA, Digboi Constituency; Mr Debajit Gogoi, ED & RH, DR, along with other senior officials, collectives, Chairman, Digboi Municipal Board, President, Borbil ‘Gaon Panchayat’, media and the general public. Speaking on this occasion, Mr Teli expressed immense satisfaction with various CSR initiatives of IndianOil, especially the noble initiative of empowering the underprivileged section of society to make them self-dependent. In his address, Mr Phukan expressed his gratitude to DR for providing continuous support to the local population under its CSR initiatives and sought similar support in future. Mr Gogoi shared about IndianOil’s commitment towards the upliftment of society through its CSR initiatives and conveyed that by providing the necessary skill and equipment, this small initiative of women empowerment shall make the women ‘Atmanirbhar’ which is aligned with PM’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission. During the ceremony, each of the 20 beneficiaries were handed over a certificate of training and a sewing machine. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Anupam Talukdar, SM (MS, Corp Comm, CSR & Hindi).
