“Safety is a culture and not merely a priority” - Chairman while interacting with young officers at Bhubaneswar

During the visit of Mr S M Vaidya, Chairman, to Odisha on April 1, 2023, an open forum was organised in which young officers of Odisha State Office (OSO), South Eastern Region Pipelines (SERPL), BD based in Bhubaneswar participated. Mr Niraj M Nimje, CGM & SH, OSO, in the presence of Mr Sanjay Kumar V, ED, SERPL, welcomed Chairman with traditional ‘Uttariya’ and expressed gratitude for Mr Vaidya’s gracious presence. Also present on this occasion was Mr Sujoy Choudhury, Director (P&BD); Mr A S Sahney, ED (Petrochemicals); Mr Mukesh Mohan, ED & RH, Paradip Refinery; Mr Arup Bhagawati, ED (HR), Paradip Refinery and other senior officials. In commemorating the completion of one year of the launch 2kg FTL cylinder by IndianOil ‘Munna’, a cake was cut by Chairman in the presence of all. ‘Munna’ was launched on April 1, 2022, by Chairman and was targeted at small families like students, working professionals, street vendors, mechanics, fishermen, boat operators, Lorry drivers etc. Within one year, ‘Munna’ has gained momentum as IndianOil achieved a market share of 23.3% in the 2 KG FTL segment. Beginning his address, Chairman brought forth a very novel aspect of the generation of suggestions, especially from young officers, as a barometer of engagement with the corporation. To highlight his point, he drew a comparison with HPCL numbers, i.e. 65% of suggestions are driven by the ABC cluster, whereas the same for IndianOil has much scope to improve on, he stated. In this context, Chairman gave an example of Toyota, which had overtaken dominance of the US & European markets by sheer strength of generating 1 million suggestions per annum by its employees. Also, he highlighted the contribution of the user-friendly Z ramp to the overall success story of Indigo Airlines and the significance of continuous innovation is to be taken as big learning for all corporates. IndianOil as a dominant energy player and retail outlet operation being the core business of the corporation, Chairman harped on achieving ‘Zero RO Dry Out’ for IndianOil as a doable practice and also stressed on the field officers to use ‘Vishleshan’ package in focusing on improving ROs of the trading area from B & C to A categories.
