Director (P&BD) & Director (R&D) hold high-level coordination meeting

A high-level coordination meeting was recently held between the IndianOil R&D and P&BD Divisions at the R&D Centre to enhance synergy, share information and explore areas of mutual collaboration. The team led by Mr Sujoy Choudhury, Director (P&BD), was warmly welcomed by Mr Alok Sharma, Director (R&D), in the presence of senior officials. In his welcome address, Mr Sharma stated that the nation is passing through an energy transition stage where many players apart from those in the Oil & Gas sector are emerging. He stressed the need to move fast at this crucial juncture and reshape our research and business plans in line with the changing energy landscape. Mr Sharma also underscored the importance of building synergy among different Divisions of IndianOil through such interactive meetings. Appreciating the role of Technology Promotion and Forecasting, he stated that we are working on emerging and new technologies to meet the demands of the dynamic energy scenario to meet the desired goals and objectives of the corporation. In his opening remarks, Mr Choudhury emphasised that this is high time to change our mindset in a complex environment where other players in the energy domain are moving fast. He shared that different verticals of IndianOil need to keep up with the transformation and focus groups should be formed from the cross-functional teams of the various Divisions of IndianOil. He further added that awareness should be raised among down-the-line officers to keep them up to date with the latest developments in the energy industry. During the meeting, several opportunities for collaboration between IndianOil’s two Divisions, status of various ongoing projects along with future collaborations in the field of bio-energy, petrochemicals and bio-plastics, were discussed at length. The meeting emphasised the critical role P&BD can play in the successful adoption and commercialisation of technologies, processes and products developed by the R&D Centre. Besides this, several emerging research areas were also examined from the view of ensuring effective coordination between the two Divisions.
